With Christmas just around the corner your priorities may be making sure you have the best decorated office or thinking about what gifts to buy!  But you should take the time to think about fire safety this Christmas! We have complied a simple top tips list for you to look at and keep in mind this Christmas.

  • Make sure all Christmas lights are turned off by the socket when leaving the house or at night time
  • Blow out any candles when leaving the house or at night time
  • Don’t leave cooking unattended – it’s easy to get distracted this time of year
  • When cooking and consuming alcohol is combined this is a mix for a fire hazard drink responsibly if you are cooking!
  • Don’t overload sockets
  • Keep decorations or any other flammable items at least 3ft away from open flame and heat sources
  • Before using decorations inspect them for any frayed or pinched wires and discard any worn decorations
  • Water Christmas trees daily and discarding trees when they are dry and begin dropping needles
  • Let any guests you have know where your fire exits are and ensure smoke detectors are spaced throughout your home and are functioning properly

  • Make sure you have a working fire alarm system
  • Make sure you decorate appropriately keep any flammable decorations away from heaters or flames
  • Make sure you turn off any fairy lights when closing up
  • Checking your security lights and CCTV
  • Making sure your windows are secured
  • Never leave heaters on
